10th Annual Political Action Committee Silent Auction

Thanks to all who helped to make the 10th Annual Silent Auction and Reception to benefit our PAC another successful one. I am always amazed by the generous people who contribute their time, talent and treasure for this event. From all of the volunteers who helped behind the scenes to plan the auction, to those who helped tag, organize and set out items, the wonderful crew who manned the checkout table, the people who contributed items and (last but not least) the bidders...............we couldn’t have done it without you!
For those of you not present at the General Membership meeting on Friday of the conference, I want to especially recognize and honor my auction Co-Chair, Patti Skiba. For those of you who do not know Patti, let me fill you in on a few facts about this wonderful person. Patti is one of our fellow PAs who was derailed years ago by pancreatitis. This unfortunately became a chronic and recurrent condition that interrupted her professional aspirations to care for patients. Patti was discovered, if you will, 4 years ago by our previous auction co-chairs, Danny Scott and Meagan Renninger. They thought that she would make a great addition to the committee that planned and ran the auction. Since Meagan and Danny stepped down as PAC chairs, Patti has really stepped up and taken over the majority of the work for this event. The auction preparation literally takes months of work that culminate in a week of furious activity to pull it off during the annual CME conference. Patti had to be exceedingly organized, creative, dedicated and diligent to run the auction for these last 4 years. And, if that weren’t enough, she cares full-time for her 95 year-old mother who lives with Patti. Her mother requires a great deal of care since she isn’t ambulatory and, as such, Patti sees to her every need. I can’t thank Patti enough for what she has done for the PAC and, by extension, the PSPA. Please join me in applauding such a fabulous, selfless volunteer and friend!
