The purpose of this committee is to help meet the needs of the PA profession in our eight regions. Methods of addressing these needs are accomplished through local CME programs, and educating the public about the profession. We communicate important information between the leadership and the membership. We are the eyes and ears of the society in the regions.
In the last year we have been very active in getting information to society members regarding our new regulations. We were able to get letters sent to the boards and we were able to help our members do their new applications correctly.
We have several new region representatives and are continuing to recruit more quality people to help on our committee. We have partnered with the Public Relations committee in presenting the Doctor’s Perspective Programs.
In the next year we I will appoint a co-chairman for the committee to help with the region business. We hope to continue to partner with the Public Relations committee in presenting Doctor’s Perspective programs throughout the state.
I would also like expand on a mentoring program to get students interested in volunteering for our organization.

What the committee accomplished in 2006-2007:
August 14-28, 2006 Little League World Series Night time Medical coverage. Region VI and PA students.
October 6, 2006 PA Day at Lycoming Mall. Held a meet and greet with the community and explained about the PA profession and what PA does as well as offering free blood pressure screenings.
November 2006 Flu shot Clinic for the Williamsport Community
December 2006 Toys for Tots
April 21, 2007 Susquehanna Health Fair at the Lycoming Mall. Region VI participated in the Susquehanna Health Fair at the Lycoming Mall, in Muncy. Met with the community and explained about the PA profession and what PA does as well as offering free blood pressure screenings.
June 8-9, 2007 The 8 th annual silent auction was also held at DiSalvo’s and we had participants from several regions as well as different PA schools to support the event. The 8 th annual Russell M. Trapp memorial golf tournament was held June 9 and Region 6 members were a huge asset with this project as well. Many PSPA members donated their time to gather donations from regions far and wide, as well as donating their time to work at the golf tournament to make this year a huge success. The Silent Auction and the Golf Tournamanet combined rose a little over $7700 for the Russell M. Trapp Scholarship fund.
June 13, 2007 Heath Summer Camp at Penn College. Students’ grades 7 through 10 come to Penn College to learn more about health professions. Several PA’s from Regions VI vole entered their time to help educate students about the Physician Assistant profession as well as teaching the students how to cast and splint.
August 13-25, 2007 Little League World Series Day and Night time medical coverage. PA’s in Region VI and Penn College PA students volunteered their time to help provide medical coverage for the little league player sand coaches.
Plans for 2007-2008:
- To increase membership numbers in Region VI.
- We will continue to hold quality CME dinner meetings, with PSPA business meetings in order to keep the members throughout the state well informed about issues important to the profession.
- Encourage more involvement from Region VI members and encourage PA-C speakers.
- We will participate in the PSPA Charity and other local charities as desired by members.
