Committee purpose: Responsible for educating the public and other health care professionals about the role of PAs in the health care system

Accomplishments from October 2008 – October 2009:

Raised over $7,300 for the 2008 Host City Charity, Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Company

Launched a Subcomittee on Employment and established a grant for a Pennsylvania physician assistant or physician assistant student(s) to explore the employment and salary discrepancies in Pennsylvania

Exhibited at POMA - April 2009

Promoted the PA profession to over 60 physicians at a Doctor’s Perspective Event in Montgomery County – June 2009

PA Day activities, slated for October 2009 – Philadelphia Amtrak Station



Planned accomplishments for October 2009 – October 2010:

Raise funds for this year’s Host City Charity, Sisters Place, a domestic violence center for battered women and their children near Pittsburgh (November 2009)

Raise funds for next year’s Host City Charity in Pittsburgh, charity TBD

Establish coordinators for variety of PRE activities (education, media, charity)

Expand PREC throughout Pennsylvania

Plan Doctor’s Perspective Events throughout Pennsylvania, with one large event to coincide with the POMA conference in April 2010

Explore possibility of an event highlighting employment in Pennsylvania (examples, resume building, interviewing tactics, etc)

Create scrapbook showing the PREC efforts of the past two years for submission to the AAPA Public Relations Awards

Continue offering a grant for a Pennsylvania physician assistant or physician assistant student (s) to explore the employment and salary discrepancies in Pennsylvania
