Committee purpose:
Increase student and faculty involvement with PSPA
Accomplishments from October 2008 – October 2009:
I Improve effectiveness of Student Affairs Committee
- Meetings: Meetings have taken place in conjunction with board meetings or via e-mail.
- Develop e-mail batch contact system to facilitate contacts with committee members and PA Program faculty and student contacts: This has been completed. E-mail contacts have been established for all programs. Contacts will be updated for the 2009-10 academic year.
II Increase student involvement with PSPA
- Schedule PSPA Power Point Presentation (New student and Graduating student presentations) at each of the PA Programs: (new student presentations): for 2009. The graduating student presentation will continue through August: Target date 09-15-09. Power points are available on the web for program use. (updated 2009)
- Increase student involvement at the annual CME conference through planning of workshops and professional track topics. Michele will be giving a lecture.
- The Student Affairs Committee will continue to work with Awards Committee regarding student awards: Contact letters will be prepared to be mailed to each program director with a target date to be coordinated with the committee. Committee members will also help with reading and judging scholarship submissions.
- The Diversity committee have established a writing competition. Information regarding the writing competition will be sent to programs. The diversity committee has taken over responsibility for this award. The student affairs committee will continue to help with promotion of the award.
- The Student Affairs Committee will continue to work with the Conference Planning Committee to host, prepare for, and run the PSPA’s Sponsored Student Challenge Bowl. Information regarding the challenge bowl will be sent out to programs.
- Information regarding the 2009 poster presentation has been distributed. There are currently eight posters accepted for display. Michele will work with the exhibit hall in order to set up the display.
Planned accomplishments for October 2009 – October 2010:
- Continue to increase student and faculty involvement in PSPA
- Help with the 2010 Challenge Bowl
- Increase involvement in the 2010 Poster Session
- Maintain student and faculty contact lists
- Encourage student involvement in the PSPA Awards and Diversity Contest
