The PSPA has a network of early notification regarding important issues which require responses from the membership.

Representation
Effective representation of members ensures continued growth and recognition of the PA profession in Pennsylvania. Representation is directed to the legislators, government agencies, professional organizations, interest groups, and the public.

Job Opportunities
The Society maintains a computer listing of job opportunities in Pennsylvania which can be searched by city and job specialty.

PA Definition Notice
Members receive an attractive, complete document, suitable for framing, which explains the term "physician assistant." This notice fulfills the Pennsylvania regulatory requirement for a PA working in a medical office or facility.

Regional Network
The state is broken down into eight regions each with a regional representative. The region serves as a local source of information and a link between the members of the region and the PSPA. Regional meetings may offer local CME opportunities, social activities and a forum for discussion of local and state issues affecting physician assistants.

Annual Conference
The Annual PSPA conference offers affordable CME, business meetings, updates on PA issues, and social functions since 1975. By attending this conference each year, the PA will meet the minimum requirement of 50 hours of Category I credit for each NCCPA logging cycle. Registration fees are reduced for Society members.

PSPA News
Quarterly newsletters keeps the membership informed about current PA issues, Society and regional news activities, CME and employment opportunities.

Public Education
The committee works to educate health care administration and the public.

Source of Information
The Society offers continually updated information for its members regarding PA issues such as reimbursement, salary and demographics, as well as the rules and regulations governing the utilization of physician assistants. The Society also maintains an extensive computer database on PAs' within the state and has information available on registered supervising physicians.

Student Members
The PSPA is a strong proponent of having an active student membership.  There are two Student Director at Large positions on the Board of Directors with full voting privileges and over $6,000 in annual scholarships provided to student members.

Membership Certificate and Card
Members receive an attractive certificate of membership suitable for framing and a membership card to identify each individual as a member of their state professional organization.

Membership Categories

Fellow: Fellow members shall include any NCCPA certified or board eligible PA who is also a fellow member in good standing of the AAPA and who practices and/or resides in Pennsylvania. A fellow member has full voting privileges, shall be entitled to the privilege of the floor, and may hold any office.

Affiliate: Affiliate members shall include any NCCPA certified or board eligible PA who does not choose to join the AAPA and who practices and/or resides in Pennsylvania. An affiliate member may vote on all issues except those which relate specifically to the AAPA. An affiliate member may not hold office or serve as a state or national delegate.

Student: Student members shall include any student in good standing in a CAHEA, CAAHEP, ARC-PA, or successor agency approved physician assistant program. A student member may vote on all issues related to student representative elections and may hold a student board position if AAPA membership is maintained.

Sustaining Member: Sustaining members shall include any NCCPA certified or board eligible PA who does not practice within the commonwealth of Pennsylvania and wishes to maintain membership in the PSPA. A sustaining member may have the privilege of the floor but may not hold office or serve as a state or national delegate and does not have voting privileges.

Physician Member : Physician emebers hsall include any US Licensed Physician who wishes to associate with the PSPA. He/she shall have the privilege of the floor but shall not be entitled to vote or hold office.

Associate Members : Associate members shall include any group practice, hospital, other health professionals, insurance company, pharmaceutical company, or person involved in the health care industry who is ineligible for any other categories and wishes to associate with the organization. These members are not entitles to the privilege of the floor, nor are they entitled to vote or hold office.

Prospective PA Student: Any high school or college student that is contemplating the physician assistant profession as his or her career. These members may not hold office and do not have voting privileges. Membership is for one year.

Honorary Members: Individuals who have rendered distinguished service to the Society or the PA profession. Such members shall be nominated by an active society member and approved by the board of directors within one year. Honorary members shall be entitled to the privilege of the floor but shall not be entitled to vote, hold office or serve as a state or national delegate. They shall be exempt from paying dues.
