Job Description for Representatives (Delegates and Alternates) to the AAPA House of Delegates

Chief DelegateResponsibilities

The Chief Delegate shall:

  1. Be a PSPA and AAPA member in good standing
  2. Coordinate all activities for PSPA at the AAPA House of Delegates
  3. Review and have an understanding of the House of Delegates handbook
  4. Review and be familiar with Sturgis and the Standing Rules
  5. Establish delegate responsibilities
  6. Plan meetings prior to the HOD meeting to discuss the topics at hand and prepare for Reference Committee involvement
  7. Report activities at the HOD meeting to the PSPA membership via the newsletter
  8. Estimated time needed to fulfill the duties of this position is 2-4 hours per month with increased time during the months preceding the meeting of the House of Delegates.
  9. Participate in the development of the PSPA Action Plan.

Delegate General Responsibilities

A Delegate to the AAPA House of Delegates shall:

  1. Be a PSPA and AAPA member in good standing.
  2. Be elected by the fellow members of PSPA.
  3. Represent the interests of Pennsylvania’s PAs to the AAPA House of Delegates
  4. Review all proposed resolutions prior to the House of Delegates
  5. Present those resolutions deemed controversial to the Board of Directors to determine the position of PSPA
  6. Represent the official position of the PSPA to the House of Delegates as determined by the Board of Directors
  7. Inform the membership of the actions of the House of Delegates via newsletter articles or other appropriate means
  8. Estimated time needed to fulfill the duties of this position is 1-2 hours per month with increased time during the months preceding the meeting of the House of Delegates.

 

Attendance Responsibilities

A Delegate to the AAPA House of Delegates shall:

  1. Attend the PSPA Board of Directors meeting immediately prior to the meeting of the House of Delegates if resolutions will be discussed
  2. Attend the full House of Delegates meeting, including the reference committee hearings unless excused by the Chief Delegate
