Job Description for the Immediate Past President

General Responsibilities
The Immediate Past President shall:

• Be a voting member of the Board of Directors
• Be a PSPA / AAPA member in good standing
• Be familiar with and adhere to the duties of the Board of Directors as a whole
• Serve as an advisor to the President
• Serve as a Delegate to the AAPA House of Delegates
• Complete the term of office for the President if the position becomes vacant for any reason before a President Elect has officially started his or her term of office
• Seek, recruit, and cultivate new volunteer leadership for the Society

Board Responsibilities
The Immediate Past President shall:

• Review all information presented for discussion at the Board of Directors meeting prior to the meeting and come adequately prepared to discuss those items
• Preside over all business meetings of the PSPA and its Board of Directors in the absence of the President
• Recommend appropriate policies for consideration by the Board of Directors

Committee Responsibilities
The Immediate Past President shall:

• Serve as a Board Advisor to the Government Affairs Division of the Society
• Be familiar with the minutes of the committees for which he or she acts as Board Advisor
• Over that each committee under his or her supervision meets the goals as outlined in the Society’s Action Plan
• Encourage that each committee under his or her supervision submits a report two weeks prior to each Board of Directors meeting

Attendance Responsibilities
The Immediate Past President shall:

• Miss no more than one Board of Directors meeting per year
• Attend applicable AAPA Meetings
• Attend meetings of those committees for which he or she acts as a Board Advisor
• Attend any strategic planning sessions of the Society

This position requires approximately 15 hours per month to fulfill its duties
